Aqua (Level 2)

A two day course for existing instructors designed to give them the knowledge and skills to teach an effective water - based sessions. The course will prepare you for the CYQ practical assessment. This is a nationally accredited qualification (which is REPs recognised). Gives 20 REPs CPD Points.

Candidates must provide their Level 2 Certificate in order to claim the CYQ Certificate. Recognised qualifications are on the National Qualifications Framework (www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk). If you hold a non NQF Certificate, you may be considered for this qualification but will have to provide evidence for 'accreditation of prior learning'

The two days are packed with practical ideas to help you develop new teaching skills. The module covers:

•The properties of water and differences between exercise in water and on dry land

•The benefits of water - based exercises

•Effective content and differences in structure

•Adapting teaching skills in order to teach sessions in the water

•Health and safety issues associated with teaching water based classes

•Preparation for the CYQ practical unit, Instructing water - based exercises.

It is essential that you have background knowledge of the body and how it works. A recap of anatomy and physiology is useful before you attend the course. Teaching Aqua is best suited to instructors who teach group exercise and although the music used for Aqua Sessions tends to be 'lost in the background' instructors normally teach to the beat of the music.

The cost of the assessment is included in the course fees.
